We are thrilled to announce that the Placentia Theatre Festival will be going ahead this summer, even if it looks slightly different than in previous years. As we speak, PATH is busy planning outdoor and online performances for your viewing pleasure.
This summer, our primary goal is to brighten your days with music and theatre in the safest way possible.
Placentia Theatre Festival 2020 COVID-19 Health and Safety Plan
Rationale - As a result of the Government of Newfoundland’s Public Health guidelines in place due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, our organization has developed a health and safety plan for this theatre season. By following these regulations, our organization is able to:
-Continue to operate during the summer as a thriving organization -Offer meaningful employment to our summer employees -Contribute to the life of Placentia through theatre and music -Entertain people with theatre and music in the safest way possible -Promote Newfoundland’s “Staycation” campaign
The Placentia Theatre Festival is essential to Placentia’s identity each summer and abiding by these regulations will ensure staff and audiences stay safe. Each staff member will be required to sign a Safety Protocol Agreement (below).
Our Protocols for Employees/Performers: 1. Employees are required to stay home if they have any cold or flu-like symptoms and/or if they have been in contact with someone who has symptoms. 2. Employees will be supplied with proper personal protective equipment and sanitation supplies. 3. Masks to be used when physical distancing cannot be established. It is noted that several of our employees already share bubbles/contact and are not required to physically distance from each other. All staff working on the door, etc. will wear masks. 4. Employees are being hired to work part-time instead of full-time to facilitate scheduling that requires less people at a time. 5. Performances are held outdoors, and also rehearsals when needed and possible. 6. Virtual meetings and collaborations will be scheduled as needed, rather than in-person meetings. 7. Frequent disinfecting of the workplace will occur. Sanitize the workplace twice daily - washrooms, work areas, surfaces etc. Sanitize all instruments, microphones, equipment and seating before and after use.
Our Protocols for Venues/Performances 1. Outdoor venue only for this season with stationary seating, physically distanced as per Public Health guidelines. A section will be roped off to allow us to have a controlled seating plan with assigned entries and exits. 2. Hand sanitizing stations will be at entrances of the performance venue. 3. Separate entry and exit points so that people are moving in the same direction. 4. Clear instructions will be provided for distancing in line-ups, entries, and exits. 5. Cleaning process implemented for before and after performances - disinfect all seating, surfaces, equipment, and staging area. 6. Online reservation system in place to reserve seats, as well as to collect information on attendees, if required by Public Health. Patrons who have not reserved online will be asked for this information at the door. 7. No in-person box office or physical tickets - online reservation and virtual tipping to be in place.
